How my player sees me

First of all, I actually have a kinda origin. (Wow!) It's in the Character part of my pinfo file [Note: don't read the whole thing yet, just the first part!]. As you can see from this, I started my life as a TRaM morph. After a bit of formatting I went around fur a while looking like this:

Skunkie's a striped skunk with long, glossy, black fur.
A white strip starts on her forehead and runs to her nape where is
splits into two parallel stripes and runs down her back and on to her
tail to its tip. Her ruff, chest, and belly fur is white.
She's wearing a white, cropped t-shirt and a short, pleated, tartan
(ancient Black Watch pattern) skirt. On her feet, she wears a pair of
white leather sandals. She's carrying a white leather purse by the
strap over her shoulder. She holds her tail upright behind her in a
delicate "S" curve and it sways gracefully as she walks about the
room.

Carrying:
Sunglasses [lookat]

As you can see I was already wearing my sunglasses. In fact they were created by my alt and first worn by the puppet that preceded me, so the object is actually older than me! Anyway, if you lookat skunkie sunglasses you should see this:
Skunkie's got a pair of cheap sunglasses perched on top of her
forehead. She doesn't really need them to protect her eyes, she's
just wearing them to indicate that she is one of the 'sung lasses'
(as opposed to the unsung ones). Bleah. [She's really got a song of
her own, but it may not be such a good idea to ask her to sing it. >:P ]

The song referred to is the one in
my pinfo file, which it's OK to read the rest of now (It contains a kind of spoiler fur the sunglass joke, see?).

My smell had also been determined and has not been changed since:

Skunkie smells of strong mustelidae musk that somehow is not over powering
and yet somewhat spicy.

After a while I got tired of the t-shirt and started working on a new and more personal version of the description. When it started getting long, I edited out the detailed description of my stripes, figuring people know what a skunk looks like!

Skunkie's a striped skunk with long, glossy, black fur.
She's wearing a short, pleated, tartan skirt. On a second look you
realize she's also wearing a fuzzy black tank top with white stripes
on the front and back that match her fur almost perfectly. On her
feet, she wears a pair of white leather sandals.
She's carrying an off-white leather purse by the strap over her
shoulder. She holds her tail upright behind her in a delicate "S"
curve and it sways gracefully as she walks about the room.
She wears no jewelry except for a plain golden band around her tail
root, fitting so snugly you'd think it was teleported on. There is
something attached to it that you can't quite make out from where
you're standing. (Try 'look Skunkie=tail' if you're really curious.)

Carrying:
Velvet Choker

At this time I also added the "look trap" on my tail. One problem with FurryMuck is that look traps don't work everywhere (See below), but when they do, everyone looking at my tail sees this:

Discretely parting the back of the young skunkette's skirt for a
closer look, you find that the plain golden ring is fastened by a
short chain to a small silver clasp attached to something under her
tail. As she turns around and smiles at you before she bends slightly
forward to give you a better view, you realize that the peaceful
little fur has peace bonded her stench gland.

Cute, huh? ;) Around this time I also got a new object, the Velvet Choker which is a present from an admirer ;)

A choker made of fine, purple, crushed velvet. In the center of the
choker, surrounded by small diamonds is a 1 1/2 inch round amethyst.
The amethyst glows softly, shifting from bright to dark purple
constantly.

Of course (?) I was carrying other objects (still had the sunglasses fur instance), but to avoid too much repetition I have only included new and signifiant items in each description.

About the end of the summer I got The Idea (tm) and changed my description to look like THIS (It also includes a few details, like the eyes, which came later. This, by the way, is the version Mark is working on):

Skunkie's a striped skunk with long, glossy bicolor fur and big
blue jump-in-and-drown eyes (!).
She's wearing a short, pleated, tartan skirt and a fuzzy black tank
top with white stripes on the front and back that match her fur
almost perfectly. Or rather, it would have matched if her fur had
been black and white, but for some weird reason it has turned *red*
and white, except for her hands and feet which are still black but
yet look different - they are not "skunk black" any more. On her
feet, she wears a pair of white leather sandals. She's carrying an
off-white leather purse by the strap over her shoulder.
She holds her tail upright behind her in a delicate "S" curve and it
sways gracefully as she walks about the room.
She wears no jewelry except for a plain golden band around her tail
root, fitting so snugly you'd think it was teleported on. There is
something attached to it that you can't quite make out from where
you're standing. (Try 'look Skunkie=tail' if you're really
curious.)
[Sorry, look traps don't work everywhere fur some reason... And don't
whisper or page to tell me it doesn't work in the park, I *know*
that!]

Carrying:
Reason (why her fur is like that) [lookat]

As you can tell, I'd had quite a number of people remarking on the look traps not working in the park by then! But what on Earth (or Furry) had happened to my fur?? Well, that is what the new object was made to explain. Look at it, and you get this text:

"Are you sure you want to know?" Skunkie chirrs quietly.
"Oh well, it's bound to come out sooner or later anyway... Well, I
met this weirdo who wanted to shave me, just to see how a skunk looks
without fur, see? Silly (and curious as well!) me said yes on the
condition that I got something to restore my fur afterwards, and,
well - you're looking at the result! How was I to know the idiot was
color blind and gave me a foxfur potion by mistake? I'm starting to
like it though, and the potion seems to have had an effect on the fur
roots as well, so it looks like I'll be a fox skunk for the
duration... Like it?"

This is the current version of the text, it used to say that "I'll remain like this until the next shedding season" or something like that (Didn't keep a copy...) but then the shedding season came and went and I didn't really want to change back to a less interesting description, so when people started asking questions I decided the change is permanent. (Also, some foxes seemed to take umbrage at my reference to being "stuck;" with that fur...)

Aother question that has been asked by some players is who this weird fur who shaved me is! I'll have to answer this one OOC because it is not a reference to any particular existing character, it's just a story my player made up! Okay? ;)

And that brings us almost up to date. As winter came, various furs would change into thicker fur or warmer clothes, and even though the muck does not have much in the way of climate, I still thought this was a good idea, and finally came up with this version:

Skunkie's a striped skunk with long, glossy bicolor fur and big
blue jump-in-and-drown eyes (!).
She has finally got around to changing into her winter clothes. She still
wears a plaid skirt, but this one is longer, thicker and made of soft
warm wool. She also wears a pink turtleneck sweater with a small Amiga
logo discretely placed over her left breast and an "Intel Outside"
mark on the right shoulder, a long multicolored scarf with ends
reaching almost to her knees even though it's wrapped at least three
times around her neck, and dark blue snowboots on her feet.
Albeit her new clothes cover more than usual, you can still see enough of
her fur to notice its peculiar coloring: Red where a normal skunk is
black, except for her hands and feet which are still black, but not quite
'skunk black'.
She still carries her ubiqutous off-white purse in a strap over her
shoulder, and her outfit is topped off by a pair of silly-looking bright
red earmuffs. As she turns to look back at you, you catch a glimpse of
something green, and at a second look you realize she's got a twig of
mistletoe clipped to her short, fuzzy headfur.
And don't
whisper or page to tell me it doesn't work in the park, I *know*
that!]

The (April '99) spring came. and brought both a new outfit... [A bit later I found out how to do details without look traps and so changed the footnote (tailnote?) accordingly]

Skunkie's a striped skunk with long, glossy bicolor fur and big
blue jump-in-and-drown eyes (!).
Curiously enough, she is red and white rather than black and white.
(Except for her hands and feet which are black but not "skunk black")
After finally shedding her winter attire she is now wearing a knee
length red and white checkered skirt. (Feel free to take a closer look,
but see the note below about look traps) On a second look you realize
she's also wearing a fuzzy tank top with red and white stripes that
match her fur almost perfectly (similar to the black and white one she
wore last year before her fur changed).
Her dainty feet are still wearing plain leather sandals, but this year
the color is tan. She still carries the same off-white leather purse by
the strap over her shoulder, though. She won't part with it, some say
it's magic... As she turns to look back at you, you catch a glimpse of
something green, and at a second look you realize she's got a twig of
mistletoe clipped to her short, fuzzy headfur.
(Try 'look Skunkie's tail' if you're really
curious.)
[Note: Look traps don't work everywhere fur some reason. If they don't,
try 'look Skunkie=tail' or whatever instead.]

...and a new look trap!

Something familiar about that pattern, you muse as you give the rather
plain (except for that pattern) skirt a closer look. Oh yes, it's the
same pattern as an Amiga Boing Ball. Guess that makes it a Boing skirt.
Heh. And yes, she's an "amigite"; at least her player is.
You didn't think dressing like that was *her* idea, did you? ;)
(see http://Skribenten.tripod.com/furry/Boing.html)

And that was my last public description fur now (except fur
my morphs). At this time I had started dividing the description into two lists for two purposes. You probably noticed that the first two lines and the part starting with "She holds her tail upright" are constant. The main description list (redesc) actually contains just these two parts with a bit of MPI code sandwiched between them. This code does two things: Under normal circumstances it will display either my summer clothes or my winter clothes depending on my "season"setting, so I can change my clothes in a flash without morphing. The code also contains an IF block which will display a third description if the viewer is holding a particular object. To give you an idea, the object is called "X-Ray Spex" and is age-locked so it can't be handed to or picked up by minors. ;) Because this description is so special I have put it in a special file (An X-(Ray-)File?) rather than include it on this page. Whether or not you choose to look at it is entirely up to you...
[That last desc was what I wore in the summer of '99. At the end of November I switched back into my "winter morph", and next spring I returned to the summer version with just a few changes, including a broad black belt to set off all the red and white. I've been thinking a bit about an autumn outfit but haven't come up with anything great yet. Maybe something for the spring...]
[Winter 2K/2K1: Same winter outfit as above, I just added a reference to my winter fur.]
Show's over.
